I am thankful.

I am thankful that I have held Angie’s hand for 14 years now.

I am thankful that my daughter lifts up her voice to sing “Glory to God in the highest.”

I am thankful that my son is a street fighting super hero.

I am thankful that the Word of God can still bring me to tears.

I am thankful that Jesus likes me.

I am thankful to have a mother and a father.

I am thankful that every Sunday I get to be the Church with both my brothers.

I am thankful for the city of my youth, Flint Town USA.

I am thankful for the circus that is Flint City Church.  She reminds me of heaven.

I am thankful for old friends that are still good friends.

I am thankful for this plantar fasciitis and the humility it brings onto my body.

I am thankful for the many father figures who loved me in spite of myself.

I am thankful that the words still flow, and I can write the things.

I am thankful that there is a God in heaven, and that someday the dying will stop.

I am thankful that I am thankful.  That bitterness hasn’t swallowed me whole.  That pity has not blinded me to the goodness of God.  That not even imprisonment, deportation, exile, racism, poverty, rejection, anger, insecurity, lust, pride, or failure has separated me from the love of God found in Christ Jesus.

I am thankful.
